TRILOGY: Art Enables at Rhizome
July 15 - August 27, 2023
Opening reception: July 15, 3-5 pm at Rhizome
Art Enables is pleased to partner with Rhizome to present "TRILOGY," an exhibition of work by Art Enables resident artists. "TRILOGY" makes use of Rhizome's three upstairs gallery spaces to present three visual "books" (and one "prequel" on the ground floor). Each room or "book" shares a pair of recurring characters—Nina and Ricky, drawn by Maurice Barnes—in a grouping of works with loosely implied themes. Viewers are invited to construct their own narratives for the story arc of the trilogy and the fate of Nina and Ricky, while taking in the diverse artistic range of the Art Enables resident artists.
Rhizome DC is a nonprofit community arts space located at 6950 Maple St NW, in the Takoma neighborhood of Washington DC. They are dedicated to promoting creativity as a force for personal empowerment and community engagement. They also strive to provide a home for non-mainstream programming in the DC area. Rhizome's programs promote creativity in all its forms, including concerts, workshops, performances, talks, exhibitions, and demonstration projects in areas such as art, music, technology, theater, local food, poetry, as well as in more esoteric fields of knowledge. They believe it's more interesting to make your own culture than to consume culture made by others.
Please note Rhizome's accessibility statement: "There is a ramp leading up to the backdoor. The only bathroom is upstairs. Please feel free to email with specific questions / to let us know how we can help accommodate your needs." at info@rhizomedc.org.
