Summer starts with a sizzle at Art Enables on June 24. Join us from 4 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the opening of two new exhibitions, "WORLDS COLLIDE!" and "Summer Showcase." Beat the summer heat with light bites and cold beverages while you enjoy the exhibitions and chat with the artists. We hope to see you there!

WORLDS COLLIDE!

This show, self-curated by the artists, is a playful representation of their diverse interests. The artists imagined elements from many worlds drawn through a portal and dropped into the gallery together, often clashing or making surprising juxtapositions. In some places the contrasts are apparent: a dragon crashes the prom; cartoonish cowboys escape from a medieval fortress; fish swim in outer space. In others, they're more subtly dissonant: a flying car floats near an idyllic farm scene, and cheerful pets sit alongside one artist's moody dream of the Flash in a red-lit room. Lucille Ball flies in the sky, and an android reveals its true identity. Science fiction and cartoons, landscapes, cityscapes, vibrant fauna—witness the many worlds of Art Enables!

SUMMER SHOWCASE
June 24 – August 19, 2023

Hot, hot, hot! Our “Summer Showcase” exhibition boasts work from 30 Art Enables resident artists, including some new to the program. Most works were completed in the last year, representing both the artists’ calling cards as well as new developments in their practices. Art Enables resident artists continue to be some of the most dedicated artists in the DC area, committed to artistic growth and connecting with the public through their work. We invite visitors to get a taste of the diverse range of styles the works demonstrate and explore more of any artist’s portfolio through our extensive flat files.
