DC Vote is a national grassroots engagement and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening our nation’s democracy and securing civil equality through self-government and full voting rights for the people who call the District of Columbia home.  

The artists at Art Enables were pleased to be invited by DC Vote to participate in their “Art Drives Statehood” project, which seeks to more intentionally include messages about equality into the arts and culture of the District of Columbia. Through partnerships with organizations like Art Enables, they also aim to uplift the unique arts and culture of DC in activism spaces. Artists from Art Enables have been asked to interpret the iconic “Statehood” license plate that has been used for years as a symbol of the fight for equality. 

On August 29th at 6:30 pm, DC Vote will officially launch “Art Drives Statehood” with Art Enables at the Atlas Theater on H Street, NE. The event will be hosted by Eireann Dolan and her husband, Washington Nationals Pitcher Sean Doolittle, Pie Shop owner Sandra Basanti, and Chris “Cardi” Clayton of CHRiS CARDi House of Design.Artist works will be on display and available for purchase, with proceeds staying with the artists and Art Enables.
