Art Enables Shines at Capital One Center's Celebration of the Arts
Art Enables was delighted to participate in Capital One Center's Celebration of the Arts, held September 19–20 in Tysons, Virginia. Presented in partnership with Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art (Tephra ICA) and Capital One Arts, the free, two-day outdoor festival brought together artists, arts organizations, families, and art enthusiasts for a vibrant weekend celebrating creativity in all its forms.
As part of the festivities, Art Enables invited visitors to explore the magic of light, color, and reflection through a hands-on kaleidoscope-making workshop. Using simple materials—including cardboard tubes, colorful beads, reflective paper, and decorative washi tape—participants created one-of-a-kind kaleidoscopes and discovered how ordinary objects can become extraordinary visual experiences.
The activity drew inspiration from Art Enables' current exhibition at Capital One, A Light Shines in the Darkness, which explores the interplay of light, imagination, and artistic expression through the distinctive perspectives of Art Enables artists. Much like the artwork featured in the exhibition, each handmade kaleidoscope offered a different way of seeing the world, revealing unexpected patterns, shifting colors, and a little wonder with every turn.
Community events like Celebration of the Arts extend the connection beyond the gallery walls, inviting people of all ages and abilities to experience the joy of making art together.
Thank you to Capital One Center, Capital One Arts, and Tephra ICA for including Art Enables in this wonderful celebration of our region's creative community. It was a joy to share a little color, creativity, and kaleidoscope magic with everyone who stopped by!
