Wish You Were Here: Escapism

Posted on: May 25

We’re pleased to present the “Wish You Were Here” series of mini online exhibitions. In lieu of being with us at our studio and gallery during our closure, we’re bringing more Art Enables to you at home. Each themed collection features work by three of Art Enables talented resident artists, and 100% of sale proceeds from this affordably-priced work will go directly to our artists during this closure.

Take a break from work and the news to join us in a moment of escapism. This week’s online exhibition brings you imagery by Mara Clawson, Charmaine Jones, and Gillian Patterson, brimming with beaches, tropical birds, rainbows, and hot air balloons in blue skies, all under the glow of many warm suns. This fantasy vacation is for you.

Mara’s work is inspired by the colors and beauty that she sees in the world around her. She uses charcoal and oil pastels to bring to life her compelling compositions of people and animals. Mara believes that the best art comes not from the mind, but from the heart. This emotional and honest attitude towards artwork is visible in each of her creations. See more of her work here.

Charmaine’s joy, laughter, and zeal for life are noticeable the moment she walks in the door. Charmaine is a patient and disciplined artist, never giving up on a piece until it meets her expectations. Her positivity, spirit, and enthusiasm are evident in her palette and in the content of her work. Regardless of subject matter – people, clothing, animals, hearts, or flowers (many of her favorites) – Charmaine’s work exudes fun, confidence, and the free-spirited quality that makes her work stand out. Gillian has a bright and confident presence in the studio. Preferring to work in acrylic paint, her works consist of beauty and nature, and scenes of both fantasy and daily life. Gillian is a new artist in the studio but she has already demonstrated tremendous talent and an eagerness to experiment and develop as an artist. We are excited to watch her journey.
