Studio Assistant (part-time/fixed term)


The part-time Studio Assistant position provides group and one-on-one support to Art Enables resident artists while helping maintain a highly professional and productive studio space for artists and guests. The Studio Assistant’s chief responsibility is to support the artist’s creative efforts in the studio while assisting artists with daily tasks. The Studio Assistant will also support other program efforts such as program compliance support.


The Studio Assistant is a part-time, fixed-term position. The position is 21 hours a week, ideally, 9 am-4 pm, three days a week (M-F). The position will run through April 30, 2023. An extension of this term is to be determined. 


Responsibilities: As this is a new position, responsibilities may shift and evolve depending on the needs of the artists, studio, and staff. 


Artist Support & Studio Management

  • Provide artists with technical help and guidance as they learn and experiment with new mediums and materials.
  • Provide creative support, offering constructive critique and feedback as requested and/or needed.
  • Collaborate with artists and staff in developing and facilitating artist workshops and professional development opportunities.
  • Support artists in learning to exercise quality control over their artwork throughout the art-making process.
  • Foster opportunities for artist input and feedback on studio activities.
  • Support artists as they arrive and start in the morning, with coffee and lunch breaks throughout the day, and wrapping up at the end of the day.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly studio space.


Program & Compliance Support

  • Maintain required documentation on artist progress towards their goals.
  • Support Art Enables’ Program Manager to ensure current and accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with artist support teams, families, and personal networks to ensure comprehensive support. 


Skills and Requirements: 

  • Commitment to Art Enables’ mission
  • Comfort working with individuals with disabilities is required
  • Experience as an artist and working with a broad range of art mediums and materials preferred
  • A work style that embodies creativity, flexibility, and patience
  • Derives joy and satisfaction from working closely with others
  • Exhibits patience, tact, and enthusiasm when working with people
  • Detail-oriented and general willingness to support where needed
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • CPR/First Aid certifications (may obtain during orientation)
  • Work environment may involve situations that require working with people with Behavior Support Plans, Trauma Informed Care Plans, and Complex Medical Needs
  • Possess a high school diploma, Certificate of Individual Educational Program (IEP) Completion, or general educational development (GED) certificate
  • Additional on-the-job training required



  • Wage: $18.50 Hourly
  • Paid Time Off
