Are you an artist, interested in exploring art as a vocational path or career, and have a love for art and the art-making process? Art Enables may be the place for you!
Art Enables serves adult artists with developmental disabilities and individuals with a mental health diagnosis. Artist must be 21 years of age or older and live in the DC metro area. Extensive previous art experience is not a requirement, only a genuine interest in the art making process and developing as a professional artist.
Art Enables is a fee-for-service program. To become a resident artist at Art Enables, artists must have funding from a sponsoring agency/organization or have the capacity to meet the fee requirements independently. For those unable to meet the fee requirements, Art Enables has a limited number of Artist Fellowships/Scholarships available.
All interested artists must go through a formal intake interview and assessment process before being considered for our vocational arts program. To schedule an initial studio tour and interview, please contact Eric Gordon, Art Enables’ Service Coordinator. Eric can be reached by phone at 202-554-9455 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If selected into the program, the first 90 days are viewed as a trial period. Upon completion of the trial period, Art Enables’ staff will sit down with the artist and his/her support team to discuss how things are going and determine whether to continue participation in the program.
