Feb’s 2nd Saturday Workshop: Window Paintings with Jonathan Ottke

Posted on: Jan 08

Bring light and love to the dark and cold with local artist Jonathan Ottke on Saturday, February 10th from 1 – 4pm! Drawing inspiration from Kabakov’s Ship of Tolerance, join us for a FREE workshop where we will paint clear and translucent paper to mount on the windows, giving us a stained glass effect, and making cold and snowy February feel a little warmer and sunnier as we celebrate our differences together.

All materials provided, no RSVP required and open to all ages and artistic abilities. Light refreshments provided.

About the Artist: Jonathan Ottke lives by a lake near Washington DC, where he walks and gathers inspiration.  He lived worldwide including near a chocolate factory in Waldenbuch, Germany, Washington DC, Nairobi, Kenya, and Vienna, Austria.  His art is deeply affected by his travels and his training as a biologist.  He sees art as a spiritual practice that is a communication, a dance even, between the creator, the universe and the viewer that allow all to become better people. His step-daughters experiences working and volunteering with disabled children was a major inspiration to him with volunteering with Art Enables.  Due to their example, he decided to use his art experience and art teaching experience as a volunteer.   Jonathan studied in Braunschweig, Germany and the University of Virginia. He has displayed his art at many exhibitions in the Washington, D.C. region. See more: https://ottkej.wixsite.com/jonathanottke
