Beat the heat and make your way to Art Enables this summer for the fun and upbeat show “Stripe, Dot, and Swirl.” Resident artists were challenged to develop artwork that incorporated at least one of the elements—stripe, dot, swirl—either in style or concept for this light-hearted summer exhibition. Some artists took the challenge literally, like Chris Schallhorn who created a piece with columns of colorful boxes peppered with dots and swirls, while others chose a more nuanced approach, like Maurice Barnes’ “Laundry Day” which depicts swirling laundry in a clothes dryer, or Charmaine Jones’ “Strawberry Chocolate Cake” that features a decadent cake striped with layers of red frosting. Think you can guess which element is used in each piece? Try your best as you explore “Stripe, Dot, and Swirl. A public opening reception will be held on July 13, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m. The free reception will include complimentary wine and refreshments, and provide the public with an opportunity to experience the artwork as well as mingle with the artists.
