Art Enables resident artists explore curation and exhibition design in “Selected,” the latest exhibition at Art Enables Studio and Gallery. Each resident artist of Art Enables was randomly given the name of one of their fellow artists and then asked to select that artists strongest work from their portfolio. Some chose to base their selections on technical merit and composition, like Shawn Payne’s selection of Jamila Rahimi’s “Tulips” or Violet Lucas’ selection of Gen Gaines’ “Nausea,” while others selected work because they enjoyed the subject matter or found the content interesting, such as Payman Jazini’s selection of Robert Corcoran’s “Ocean City.” For many of the artists in the studio this was their first opportunity for curation, allowing them to take their time to patiently survey the breadth and fine details of their fellow artist’s work.

Guests will have the chance to meet some of the artists of the exhibition at the “Selected” opening reception on November 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public, with light refreshments and wine provided. Come early for the free 2nd Saturday Workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. with local artist Delé Akerejah of the Dopamine Clinic.
