Join us for our Second Saturday Workshop Series and opening reception on February 11th, 1 – 4pm, featuring local artist Gyasi.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how you can have fun developing a canvas painting without giving yourself unnecessary amounts of pressure. Use acrylic paint, a couple of mark making tools, and a set of self generated rules to invent a process that is unique and repeatable. Materials are provided, no registration is neccessary, and as always, the workshop is FREE and open to all ages to attend.
About the Teacher: Gyasi is a visual creative born in Trinidad & Tobago who has practiced drawing and painting since the age of eight. During his childhood, he watched his father create beautiful portraits of family members and his favorite musicians. Under his example, Gyasi realized he wanted to pursue art. As he grew in age, his interest in art grew, emulating illustrations from American and Japanese comics to selling original artwork on clothing and shoes in high school. He studied media arts and animation at the Art Institute of Washington and has recently been exploring abstract line art to supplement his imaged-based animation work.
