Phenomenal feminist trio The MalvinasBeth Cahill, Gina Forsyth and Lisa Markleybring their tight harmonies and quirky instrumentation to DC for a musical blow-out and fundraiser at the Art Enables Gallery on Sunday afternoon, August 19th, 3:00 pm.
With roots from all over North America, The Malvinas pull together a broad palette of regional colors. With their blues-tinged grooves from the deep South, spicy Cajun flavors of Louisiana, Celtic modes of Eastern Canada, and troubadour tradition of Texas, they have shared the stage with the likes of Tori Amos, The Burns Sisters, and Shake Russell. By turns politically opinionated and romantic, temperamental and brash, Lisa, Gina, and Beth create music that will touch the heart and soul.
Tickets $30. Proceeds go to support the emerging artists of Art Enables, people with developmental and/or mental disabilities who produce outsider art using images drawn from their experiences.
Reserve early with a phone call/credit card (202.554.9455) or by check payable to Art Enables.
Plenty of free parking behind the building, and the ticket price entitles you to two free drinks.
