James is proud to be the first-ever Art Enables artist. In fact, the archives include a photo of him working diligently on his art while staff painted the walls of the program’s first studio even before the program was officially open. Back then James artwork consisted of endlessly repeated trucks, mugs, people and weed whackers in colored pencil on craft paper, a far cry from today’s rabbits and still lives and schools of fish in oil pastel, acrylic, watercolor and fabric dyes.
