Artists receive 60% of revenue from sales of their work. The balance goes to cover framing and presentation costs. Art Enables generates no operating funds from sales.

For many of the artists, revenue from sales of their work is their only earned income. For all of them it's gold. Paul's response to a check is a big grin and "Books, cd's, videos". Melissa will tell you that she's putting her check in the bank "to buy a house".

Beyond buying power, though, sales give the artists access to a transaction which is fundamental to our system and which most of us take for granted: providing value for money. Sales offer tangible proof to the artists that they have done a good job at a task that has not been dumbed down to accommodate their disabilities. Through their art, the artists are acknowledged as achievers in the public arena, nine out of ten times by total strangers. What could be nicer?
